ForVolkswagen suitable ignition key with (ID48) transponder to replace your damaged or defective ignition key. Also suitable to make a copy of your key so you can have an (extra) spare key. This is an aftermarket product and is not an original Volkswagen part.
The ignition key with transponder is suitable for Volkswagen Caddy, Volkswagen Golf, Volkswagen Passat, Volkswagen Polo, Volkswagen Vento and Volkswagen Transporter.
How do I replace the ignition key with transponder?
You can have a properly functioning ignition key again without any technical knowledge.
What do you need to do?
Choose between replacing your damaged/defective key or an (extra) spare key, see below.
To replace your damaged or defective ignition key with transponder
Step 1. Open your existing ignition key, remove the transponder/immobilizer and put it over the new ignition key. Close the housing.
Step 2. Have your key copied by a locksmith.
Step 3. That's all, you now have a properly working ignition key again.
An (extra) spare key
Step 1. Take your original key and the new key with you to the locksmith/chop shop.
Step 2. Have them copy the immobilizer/transponder. The immobilizer allows you to start your car.
Step 3. Have your key copied by the key maker/chop bar.
Step 4. That's all, you now have an (extra) spare key.
