No, you can easily transfer the electronics and transponder from your current key to this new housing without technical knowledge.
What do you need to do?
- Open your existing key and remove the electronics and transponder.
- Place the electronics and transponder in the new key housing.
- Transfer the key blade or have it sharpened at a locksmith. Close the housing.
Compare the photos

Rotations of the key blade.2024-11-16I used the existing key blade; the hole where the push button fits is larger than the one on the new one, so the push button sits more loosely in it than the button that belongs to the blade. When I tried to fit the original one in, it didn’t fit in the new housing. I then put the pin that belongs to the housing back in so it would work, but it doesn’t snap out smoothly. My conclusion is that you should keep the new folding key as-is and have the blade milled out to get a copy. As things stand now, I can manage with it. Converting the circuit board went well despite my arthritis in my fingers.Shop reply:
