Is technical knowledge necessary?

No that is not necessary, you can have a working clap key again without any technical knowledge. You only need to transfer the electronics and immobilizer of your old key.

What do you have to do?

Step 1. Open your existing key, remove the electronics and immobilizer and place them in the new folding key housing.
Step 2. Transfer the key blade to the new housing or have it sharpened at a locksmith. Then close the housing.
Step 3. That's all, you now have a fully functioning folding key again.
