How do I replace the ignition key?
You can have a functioning ignition key again without technical knowledge.
What should you do?
To replace your damaged or defective ignition key:
- Open your existing ignition key, remove the immobilizer and transfer it to the new ignition key. Close the housing.
- Transfer the key blade (the part that goes into your ignition switch) to the new key housing. You can also choose to have the key sharpened (copied) by a locksmith.
- That's all, you now have a working ignition key again.
An (extra) spare key:
- Take your original key and the new key with you to the locksmith/chop shop.
- Have the immobilizer copied. The immobilizer ensures that your car can start.
- Have the key copied by the locksmith/hack bar.
- That's all, you now have an (extra) spare key.
