What is an ignition lock?

The ignition lock is the mechanical and/or electronic component into which the key is inserted to unlock the car, activate the electronics and provide the start signal. In many vehicles, the ignition lock is linked to an immobilizer and requires a correct combination of key, chip and cylinder.

When to replace it?

An ignition lock or ignition switch often needs to be replaced when:
