How do I replace the ignition key with a transponder?
You can have a fully functional ignition key again without any technical knowledge.
What do you need to do?
Choose between replacing your damaged/defective key or making an (extra) spare key; see below.
To replace your damaged or defective transponder
key Step 1. Open your existing transponder key, remove the transponder/immobilizer, and transfer it to the new transponder key.
Step 2. Have your key duplicated by a locksmith. Close the casing.
Step 3. That’s it—you now have a fully functional ignition key again.
An (extra) spare key
Step 1. Take your key and the new key to the locksmith.
Step 2. Have the immobilizer/transponder duplicated. The immobilizer ensures that you can start your car.
Step 3. Have the key duplicated by the locksmith.
Step 4. That’s it—you now have an (extra) spare key.
